685 Catalina — Los Angeles (Koreatown), CA
Developer: Jamison Properties | Architect: DFH Architects
The project at 685 Catalina in Koreatown, Los Angeles is a seismic retrofit and addition of five new levels to an existing three story concrete structure. The original structure was a 1950s concrete parking garage, standing 30-feet tall, and was identified as a seismically vulnerable, non-ductile concrete building at risk of catastrophic failure in the next major earthquake. The project consisted of retrofitting these seismic deficiencies, in addition to constructing a multifamily residential complex above the existing parking levels. The completed building stands at approximately 88 feet tall, with eight stories and 120 residential units.
