Project Manager
Job Description:
LFA is looking for an experienced project manager to join any of our fast-growing engineering practices in El Segundo, Irvine or Pasadena, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for management of multiple projects.
- Development of structural engineering systems with Principal-in-Charge.
- Supervises and directs project engineers and drafters.
- Primary interface with clients on project specific issues.
- Directly responsible for the technical content and quality control on specific projects, as established with Principal-in-Charge.
- Establishes project fees, budgets and scheduling commitments with Principal-in-Charge.
- Tracks project cost and timing to ensure fulfillment of contract commitments and profitability.
- Identifies areas not in contract scope of work and formulates proposals for additional services.
- Reports directly to Principal-in-Charge.
- Assumes functions of Project Engineer if required/needed.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering/ Architectural Engineering/ Structural Engineering
- Requires S.E. license with 10+ years total experience, or in select circumstances, a P.E. license with 3-10 years of being in responsible charge of projects.
Senior Project Engineer
Job Description:
LFA is looking for an senior project engineer to join any of our fast-growing engineering practices in El Segundo, Irvine, Pasadena, or San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares calculations, sketches and coordinates drafting under the supervision of the Principal-in-Charge.
- Performs construction services under the supervision of the Principal-in-Charge.
- Interfaces with clients on multiple projects under supervision of Principal-in-Charge.
- Supervises/coordinates with other engineers and drafters.
- Establishes technical content and quality control in conjunction with the Principal-in-Charge.
- Functions as a Project Manager on some projects and reports to Principal-in-Charge.
- Functions as Project Engineer on some projects under the direction of a Project Manager or Principal.
Requirements:
- B.S. Civil or MS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Requires P.E. license with 5-15 years total experience. May have S.E. license.
Structural Project Engineer
Job Description:
LFA is looking for an experienced project engineer to join any of our fast-growing engineering practices in El Segundo, Irvine, Pasadena, or San Diego, CA. The position will be a mixture of design work as well as structural observations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares calculations, sketches and coordinates drafting under the supervision of the Project Manager.
- Performs construction administration services under the supervision of the Project Manager.
- Interfaces with clients on project specific issues.
- Supervises/coordinates with other engineers and drafters.
- Responsible for technical content and quality control as set by the Project Manager.
- Functions as a Project Manager on some projects and reports to Principal-in-Charge.
- Reports to the Project Manager on specific projects.
Requirements:
- P.E. licensure is required.
Civil Project Manager
Job Description:
LFA is looking for an experienced project manager to join our fast-growing civil engineering practice in El Segundo or Irvine, CA. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of similar experience.
Responsibilities:
The position will assist with grading, hydrology and hydraulic studies and analysis, utility design and studies, as well as drainage and storm water treatment design on private, commercial, institutional, and residential land development projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- P.E. preferred/ EIT required.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in civil land development design.
- Ability to effectively assist and manage young engineers on various engineering tasks and designs.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Ability to design, assist, and manage land development projects from concept through closeout.
- Design experience with site development projects that includes grading, drainage, utilities, site layout, due diligence and permitting.
- Excellent communication skills as well as time management and organizational skills.
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines and project demands.
Civil Project Engineer III
Job Description:
LFA is looking for an experienced civil project engineer to join our fast-growing civil engineering practice in El Segundo or Irvine, CA. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of similar experience.
Responsibilities:
The position will assist with grading, hydrology and hydraulic studies and analysis, utility design and studies, as well as drainage and storm water treatment design on private, commercial, institutional, and residential land development projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- EIT required preferred.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in civil land development design including plan production, utility design and analysis, hydrology and hydraulic analysis, storm water quality design, etc.
- Experience with the permitting process with local jurisdictions in the LA and Orange County area.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Ability to develop civil engineering plans and perform engineering calculations as required for the permitting of the civil engineering scope.
- Design experience with site development projects that includes grading, drainage, utilities, site layout, due diligence and permitting.
- Excellent communication skills as well as time management and organizational skills.

Project Engineer I (Civil)
Project Engineer I (Civil): Under the supervision of the Principal, design the structure of residential and commercial buildings, including single family residences and multi-family, mixed-use, and commercial projects. Consult with other engineers on project objectives, design specifications, project details, and other project-specific issues and work with other engineers and drafters to draft designs for new buildings as well as renovations and seismic strengthening for existing buildings. Prepare sketches, drawings, and 3D modeling using AutoCAD and Revit and prepare calculations and design specifications using software including ETABS, Safe, SAP, Enercalc, and Adapt. Draft structural design documents. Submit structural designs to senior engineers for review to ensure compliance with engineering plans, specifications, quality control standards, and regulatory standards. Assist in conducting site inspections and perform construction administration services under the supervision of the Principal and senior engineers. Stay abreast of the latest technological advances, building codes, and industry trends.

Review project proposals, plans, engineering drawings, diagrams, blueprints, and design specifications. Confer with Principal to recommend design improvements and adjustments where necessary using technologies such as Safe, SAP, Enercalc, and Adapt. Lead the project engineering team throughout project phases. Prepare review sketches, drawings, 3D modeling, and consult Principal in making necessary revisions to design documents. Review project calculations and design specifications. Complete building analysis using 3D structural analysis and design software. Review cost analysis and compliance with engineering plans, specifications, quality control standards, and regulatory standards. Conduct site inspections and perform construction administration services. Prepare quality assurance and inspection reports, and recommend changes to plans and further action to the Principal. Stay abreast of the latest technological advances, building codes, and industry trends.
