Birdie G’s — Santa Monica, CA
Client: Redcar Properties | Architect: Montalba Architects
The renovation of Birdie G’s involved the TI of an existing steel-framed warehouse building at Santa Monica’s Bergamot Station, once part of a historic railroad depot. Preserving the building’s industrial character with its soaring steel-beamed ceiling and brushed cement floors, the transformation introduced modern enhancements that complement the original architecture.
New steel-and-timber mezzanines, custom staircases, and a striking kitchen canopy were thoughtfully integrated into the space. Ceiling elements and rooftop mechanical supports were precisely integrated to avoid extensive seismic retrofits, while a dynamic new storefront gives the façade a contemporary edge.
