Donny Harris, S.E., LEED AP
Principal, Head of Shoring Department
In 2017, LFA welcomed Donny to the team. Donny has over 20 years of experience as an engineer and enjoys figuring out effective solutions for projects in the team environment. He has completed over 500 projects in his career. Each project he works on is drawn from a variety of experience; whether it be a 400 bed state-of-the-art skilled nursing facility for the VA West LA, a town shopping center with over a million square feet of parking structure serving retail and restaurant space in La Jolla, or one of the many spectacular mansions in the Los Angeles area he has designed. One of the favorite parts of his job is mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Outside of LFA Donny is an active member of SEAOSC, serving on the board of Directors. Also on the Los Angeles County Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue team CA-TF2, he is a structural specialist and evaluates building damaged during disasters to help rescue people from collapsed structures and aid communities after catastrophes; he has been deployed to the 2010 Earthquake in Haiti, the 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan, and 2015 Nepal Earthquake. Experiencing these disasters from ground zero is a powerful perspective Donny shares with LFA and the projects teams he works with.
Donny was a student athlete for the UCSB volleyball team, prior to his engineering career he played volleyball professionally in Italy, Belgium, Puerto Rico and Spain. Outside the office he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, coaching youth sports, wood working, and the ocean.
