Melissa Doorn, S.E.
Associate
Melissa joined LFA in 2013. With over 15 years of experience, she specializes in existing building retrofits, adaptive reuse, large-scale educational housing projects, and multifamily / mixed-use commercial developments.
Her interest in earthquakes, buildings, and structural engineering was sparked by the 1994 Northridge earthquake, which pushed her to move away from her home. Thereafter, she went on to pursue her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering at UC San Diego. She truly enjoys solving problems and working with project teams to produce excellent results, but her favorite part of the job is training and mentoring young engineers.
Melissa’s enjoyment outside of work consists of time with her husband and three young children. In the little extra leisure time she has, she also enjoys reading, enjoying the LA food scene, playing softball, and spending time at the beach and with her friends.
