The Post is an alteration and retrofit project consisting of a conversion of an existing post office building into a creative office space. The existing 4-story ‘Pre-Northridge” moment resisting frame building was constructed in the 1980’s and is located in Beverly Hills, CA. A unique aspect of this project is the feature stair comprised of plate stringers including one level without any supports for the intermediate landing. The viscous damper retrofit option was chosen due to its cost efficiency and performance gains. The estimated savings from a conventional alternative are $3 million.
