Orum — Bel Air, CA

Perched atop a hilltop, the Orum residence is designed to look as if it was subtly ‘floating’ above its surroundings. The motivation behind this design was to meet the challenge of creating a luxurious home for the client to throw large events, while also allowing it to be a comfortable and welcoming place for her extended family. To make this work, the residence required that its various zones remain distinct, while still flowing into one another. The spaces were distributed across three “blades,” each radiating from a single node. Despite its scale, the home manages to feel both functional and warm.
