Potrero Heights Senior and Community Center — Montebello, CA
Architect: Lehrer Architects, Kadre
The Potrero Community Center transforms a once-underutilized park into a vibrant civic space serving seniors and local residents in unincorporated Los Angeles County. The 13,500 SF facility includes multi-purpose rooms, classrooms, offices, and outdoor gathering areas, all connected by a glazed central corridor. Seven retractable glass doors open the building to the surrounding landscape, allowing it to function as indoor-outdoor venue. Clear forms and vibrant colors define the architecture, creating a welcoming and accessible environment. Designed as a flexible hub for learning, meeting, and celebration, the center supports a wide range of public programs and activities.
