South LA Animal Care — San Pedro, CA

Architect: RA-DA

LFA provided structural engineering services for the South Los Angeles Animal Care and Community Center, a 64,000 SF facility designed by RA-DA to reimagine the traditional animal shelter experience. More akin to a public park than a kennel, the center features radiant ground heating, misting systems, retractable kennel roofs and lush, natural gardens that support the health and comfort of over 225 dogs. Vibrant, gallery-like rooms serve as both living spaces and display areas, creating a thoughtful, humane environment that enhances the adoption experience for visitors and the daily work of staff.
